Henry Pope – Root Society 2012

Henrypope 150x150 Henry Pope Root Society 2012

A litle while ago a mix landed in my inbox from Henry Pope, that despite really liking i could never quite find the appropriate moment to blog it.

Thankfully today a new mix by Henry arrived, which is his set from Burning Man.

In all seriousness, i'm blogging this because it's a cracking energetic listen that, since i got home from work, the wife, the nipper and myself have been bouncing around the house to. It's really polished and slick and I imagine absolutely tears up a dance floor in the way it moves effortlessly from bass heavy mash ups to the Westcoast breaks of DJ Icey and Londons very own Stanton Warriors, combining electro tinged mashups, and hip hop by the way of Lords of the Under Ground, Bustah and Biggie.

Having been a DJ that always likes to jump genre i really appreciate a DJ that will take risks in their set and there are lot's of them in here, but they all come off really well. I also really admire when a DJ can catch me unaware and make me go "ohhhh!", just before run to my record box to dig out a long forgotten track, and i did that about 4 times in this one mix.

You can check the mix below, and download it and I highly recommend checking the Early Summer Mix whilst you are at it.
